Nothing is more detrimental to a congregation—especially small ones—than when sides are chosen based on fleshly family ties. The results are tragically (1) a grand distraction from the true work of the church, (2) a great detriment to solid efforts to reach the community, and (3) a guilty defiance against the Lord’s plan, plea, passion, and prayer for unity.
