All Christians have enjoyed “vertical reconciliation” with the Father. We often need “horizontal reconciliation” among ourselves. Paul’s epistle to Philemon teaches us about both.

Christianity is the most revolutionary movement this world has ever known—albeit without the employment of physical weaponry. This session will look at slavery in the NT world and how Christianity began to undermine it.

The gospel of Christ is the power to spiritually transform people’s lives. Paul had seen this transformation in the life of Onesimus, and he desired Philemon to see it as well.

Persuading people to do what is helpful, or even what is right, is not always easy. One might say there is an art to being effectively persuasive. Paul’s personal letter to Philemon teaches us much about this skill.

The inspired apostle Paul was the one who wrote, “the greatest of these is love.” In his letter to Philemon, we see that Christian love not only bears certain traits, it also has a certain behavior.CD #224
